The Microcinema League of Davis is a forum for those who engage in the activity of making movies. Specifically, low to no budget movies shot by people in the area of Davis, CA.
Microcinema is a term used to describe movies of a low budget style shot on cheaper formats like video, digital video, and 16 mm. Often it is used to describe the works of people that produce movies outside the studio system and indie scene, now able to make movies due to the revolutions in technology that allow movies to be made with smaller and smaller budgets.
For some reason there is a rather large microcinema movement in Davis, CA. This is no doubt due to the large number of college students that attend the local college, UC Davis, and some desperate need for self-expression. So be it.
